Makanak Band

YOUTH

The Makanak has chartered inter-tribal Youth Life Quest training program, to enlighten young people through culturally-focused age appropriate, hands-on and classroom learning activities, religious ceremonies, and to provide life skills and career choice guidance opportunities, as well as access to positions uniquely parallel to their skill set in both the Indigenous Communities and the surrounding communities.

The Makanak actively cultivates a new generation of Indigenous Leaders who demonstrate healthy lifestyles and confidence in their heritage and spirituality in its Youth Council, individual training programs and scholarships.  Educating the youth about their culture, heritage and the Creator will empower and enable them to become active participants in any community, strengthening bonds throughout, overcoming poverty, and building a better tomorrow for themselves and their families and the next seven generations.

New generations of Indigenous Leaders are encouraged to possess healthy lives and self-assurance in their spirituality and ancestry. The Youth Council trains them in collective leadership and governance.  The Lenape Scouts train the young men to be warrior men based in the indigenous traditions of the Lenape.  The Agojie, or Chief’s Guard, train young ladies to be warrior women based in the traditions of the Dahomey.
